Tom Holland’s brutal workout to get in shape for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is taking social media by storm as fans share their own experiences trying it for themselves.
Tom Holland boasts a famously athletic background, having trained in ballet, tap dance, and acrobatics — all disciplines that helped him land the role of New York’s resident web-slinging superhero.
But it takes more than gymnastics experience to pull off Spidey’s high-flying flips and hilarious quips. Speaking with Men’s Health in 2025, Holland revealed the way he keeps himself fit and strong enough to convincingly pull off the beloved Marvel hero, and it’s no cakewalk.

“I do a CrossFit workout called Cindy,” he told the outlet. “It’s five pull-ups, 10 push-ups, 15 squats, as many times as you can in 20 minutes. I think my record is 27 rounds. …It’s great. You don’t have to think about anything, you just count your rounds.”
This intense bodyweight HIIT regimen is nothing to sneeze at, with Men’s Health noting that his high score suggests he’s way ahead of the curve, even where experienced Crossfitters are concerned. Combined with his boxing workouts and other fitness routines, it’s no surprise that he’s considered one of the best actors to ever put on the mask.
While this interview took place last year, it’s making the rounds once again following the massive success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, prompting fans and fitness fanatics alike to try it for themselves.
One of the most notable names to try their hand at the Cindy workout is fitness influencer Skye Mackintosh, best known for his 20-minute at-home workout videos on TikTok and Instagram. As the ‘Daily Reps Guy’ of the internet, this type of routine seemed right up his alley… but even he struggled to keep up with Holland’s score.
After 20 minutes, he managed to get 24 sets done — not too shabby, and only three sets behind Holland’s viral score.
“Tom Holland, you’re a beast,” an out-of-breath Mackintosh said after completing the workout. “I just got gassed. Before today, I had only ever done every minute on the minute, so I had done 20, meaning today was my first time going all-out, and it felt like it. …That was hard, but so much fun.”
Commenters across social media have begun sharing their own experiences after trying the Cindy workout, with one writing on X, “I actually tried this yesterday, got nine rounds in before giving up. A lot harder than it sounds.”
“I actually tried this, I got through the first round and died. Heaven is nice. God’s a pretty cool dude,” another joked.
Holland has been on a tear at the box office this summer, with both Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey breaking records during their respective opening weekends. In fact, both he and wife Zendaya are the darlings of the cinema this year, with Zendaya set to appear in Dune Part 3 this December.
