The Dungeon Crawler Carl books have very quickly become one of the most popular series on the planet. Matt Dinniman’s crazy LitRPG story has a TV adaptation in the works, a tabletop RPG on the way, and is becoming a major franchise seemingly overnight. If you haven’t had the chance to read the books, there’s never been a better time to do so.
For those with a Prime Membership already, Amazon has a Prime Day promotion that can potentially let you read all eight books for free. Kindle Unlimited is free for three months for new subscribers and even the latest book is included with the service.

I read a lot of LitRPG books and can attest that Kindle Unlimited is definitely the best way to access that genre in particular. I’ve had a subscription for a few years now and have found it to be the cheapest way to read a series that has a lot of books in it. The subscription costs $11.99 per month, which adds up to the cost of one or two books if you buy them directly from the Kindle Store. So if you’re planning to read an entire series pretty quickly, it can get expensive if you buy each book outright.
If you’re a Prime Member and haven’t had a Kindle subscription before, this is definitively the best way to get into the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. With a 3-month free trial you should be able to read through all of the books before having to pay for a subscription. That’s like 2.66 books per month, which is totally doable for a series like this.
And if you aren’t a Prime Member already, there’s a potential workaround by utilizing an Amazon free trial. The standard Amazon Prime free trial only lasts a total of 30 days, which is also what the standard Kindle Unlimited free trial already is without Prime. But if you meet the requirements, you can get a 6-month free trial of Amazon Prime Young Adult instead. Then once you have that you can access the 3-month free trial of Kindle Unlimited. It’s a complicated bit of maneuvering, but it works!
Amazon’s Audible deal is great for the audiobook versions

If you would prefer to listen to the audiobooks instead of reading them with Kindle Unlimited, the Audible deal is the best way to do that right now for non-Prime Members. Matt Dinniman himself has praised Jeff Hays’s performance, saying he’s one of the few narrators out there doing all of the voices and sound effects that really bring audiobooks to life. And the DCC audio versions are undoubtedly some of the best audiobooks available right now.
New subscribers can get the Audible Standard plan for only $0.99/month for the first three months, which includes one book per month. You also get a $20 Audible credit.
